Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper,
Daniel Akpeyi is quite ecstatic in the
side heartwarming improvement on
the latest November Fifa ranking.
Nigeria moved up to the 50th
position in the latest Fifa ranking
released on Thursday.
Eagles were rewarded for defeating
Africa’s giants, Desert Warriors of Algeria 3-1 in the
2018 Fifa World Cup qualifying clash in Uyo, Nigeria
to climb up 10 places.
The three-time African champions are now eighth in
Africa behind Senegal, Ivory Coast, Tunisia, Egypt,
Algeria, Congo DR and Burkina Faso.
Akpeyi said the side brilliant showing in the 2018
Russia World Cup campaign must have been
responsible for the improved rating insisting that the
onus is on the side to sustain the winning aura for
further improvement.
“Whoa, that’s great we are coming up strongly on the
ladder!
“Of course, the good performance in the 2018 Fifa
World Cup campaign must have helped us greatly.
“We must now continue winning in other matches to
be able to sustain and further improve in subsequent
rankings,” said the Premier Soccer League (PSL) side,

Argentina are number one on global rating closely
followed by rivals, Brazil, Germany, Chile, Belgium,
Colombia, France, Portugal, Uruguay and Spain.
The next Fifa ranking will come up on Thursday,
December 22, 2016 which will determine the winners
for the Team of the Year and the Mover of the Year.
